We need a brighter future

The English version of this book will be released 2021, and it will be a part of a charity project with purpose of informing and preventing a dysfunctional development in children.

Many of us are walking through life trying to be as perfect as possible. We believe perfect is important because then maybe, MAYBE, we won´t get mocked, hated, violated or diminished. But sometimes not even perfect is enough.

If we spend our time in social surroundings that repeatedly diminishes us, we may end up with a wish to become invisible. We believe that if we are invisible, no one will do us any harm. However this makes us easy targets and we will in time disappear even to ourselves.

Personality disorders such as Narcissism and Psychopathy are great threats to our hope for a brighter and more reliable future. Disorders like these hurt millions of people every day. It may be a greater problem in welfare states. In some countries people are looking for clean water to survive the day. In other countries people are looking for reasons to hurt fellow human beings psychologically, emotionally, socially or economically. There are also poor people in the world who are poor just because of the fact that their leaders are lying, manipulative, acts out with emotional coldness and are greedy for power.

When we hear of Narcissism and Psychopathy for the first time, we may believe that it has nothing to do with us. But have you ever been exposed to someones envy and got hurt from it? Such envy is a narcissistic trait. Have you ever encountered a lying person that has hurt you with the lies in a way that destroys your life? Such lying is a psychopathic trait. This doesn´t mean that all people who act like this are full-fledged narcissistic or psychopathic individuals, but the fact that they use these traits is bad enough.

Our chances of changing people who are behaving like this aren´t so great, but we can make ourselves aware of their behavior. Through such a thing as awareness we can make sure that fewer people will be affected in the future. We are talking a lot about how we can act to save ourselves from personality disordered individuals, but to little about how we can act to create fewer new ones…

The problems we face which have their origins in these disorders are wider spread than we can ever imagine. Many children do grow up in homes where the parents lack parenting skills, and these children are at risk for developing a personality disorder. A reality where it is important to be seen, famous and successful has taken up a greater space in our lives now than it did twenty years ago. In this space there is also a great risk for narcissism to flourish.

I have for a year or two, considered this website, where I can share my thoughts and experiences from living among people with personality disorders, and my thoughts regarding how we may be able to decrease the number of people growing up suffering from them.

“OUR CULTURE IS FULL OF NARCISSISTIC INFLUENCES THAT NUMB US TO THE REALITY OF THE PROBLEMS WE FACE. TO FIGHT BACK, WE NEED STRONG, REAL SELVES THAT ARE CAPABLE OF TRANSCENDING MERE SELF-INTEREST. WHEN WE UNDERSTAND WHERE SELF-ESTEEM REALLY COMES FROM AND MAKE A COMMITMENT TO RAISING HEALTHY CHILDREN – WHEN THIS BECOMES OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY- WE WILL HAVE TURNED THE CORNER TOWARDS A BETTER WORLD.”
